Privacy policy
LockTime, the app, collects nothing. This page says exactly what stays on your Mac, what can leave it when you choose, and what this website counts.
The app
LockTime records your screen only after you start it, and keeps everything it makes on your Mac: the screenshots, the text read from them, the search index and your settings. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting. Nothing about your screen is sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to see it.
Screenshots are encrypted with a key kept in your Mac's keychain. The search index โ the recognised text, window titles and, in the downloaded app, the addresses of web pages โ is not encrypted, because search has to read it. Anyone with access to those files on your Mac can read the words from your screen. You can pause recording, exclude applications, set how long history is kept, and delete any of it, at any time, in the app.
The vault
Passwords, card numbers, IBANs, API keys and tokens that LockTime finds on screen are covered in the saved screenshot and left out of search. If you turn on offering them for the vault, the ones you keep are stored in one file on your Mac, encrypted with a key in your keychain, and shown only after Touch ID or your Mac's password. They are never searched, given to Ask or uploaded. If you save one on to your keychain, or to 1Password in the downloaded app, it is handled by that app from then on.
What can leave your Mac, only if you choose
- Ask's web search. Off until you turn it on in Settings and give it a Brave Search key of your own. Then the words of a search, and requests for the pages that search returned, go to Brave and to those websites. Screenshots and their text are never sent.
- Answers from Ollama. If you choose Ollama, questions go to Ollama running on your own Mac, over the Mac's internal network address. They do not leave the Mac.
- Updates. The App Store version is updated by the App Store. The version downloaded from this website asks locktime.org for a newer version only when you choose Check for Updates.
- The MCP server, in the downloaded version only, answers an assistant that you connect to it yourself, on your Mac. It reads the search index, never the pictures, and cannot change anything.
This website
locktime.org counts visits with Rybbit, a privacy-focused analytics service: which pages are read and roughly from where. It does not use advertising trackers. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps the ordinary request logs any web host keeps. The app does not use either of them.
Children
LockTime is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
